Corporate Social Responsibility

We are an employee-owned, not-for-profit cooperative company. By statute, our objective is to create job opportunities and cultural advancement for our partner employees, contributing in this way to social and economic development. Our net earnings are fully invested in improving our employees' performance and promoting skills development. Our statute recognises CSIL's vocation to research.
We make decisions and govern the cooperative in a democratic, non-hierarchical and collaborative way. CSIL is a member of Legacoop, the association that brings together over 10,000 cooperative companies, active in all Italian regions and all sectors to create development and enhance people and territories' roles. Cooperatives are committed to achieving sustainable development from an environmental, social and economic point of view.

We treasure our independence and share a strong sense of social responsibility. We believe that applied economic research and the study of development processes, even on a small scale, on a single industry or sector, is a useful contribution to society

We rely on a well-connected network of professionals, which are based in different locations. While CSIL's core functions are centralised in Milan's headquarter, remote working allows us to pursue our global perspective, enlarge the pool of available expertise and help people achieve a better work-life balance. Although we enjoy social interaction, we have procedures and IT services that allow us to deliver results working remotely or from the office. We promote lively discussion and exchanges. As a community, we organise internal seminars and workshops to discuss current issues.

Members participate in the life of the communities in which CSIL operates. We contribute to the social improvement of territories that we live in with various volunteering, fundraising and charitable activities. We are inspired by the values of honesty, fairness and transparency and work responsibly towards society, public opinion, and all those involved in the work of the cooperative.
Women made up 70% of CSIL's workforce, and we promote gender equality in research. We value diversity and work to make our institute an inclusive and personally enriching work environment. To do so, we keep a global mindset and an open mind when approaching new projects, partnerships, people.

At the company level, we are committed to maintaining high safety, security, environmental protection and energy efficiency. We train, make aware, and involve the staff on social responsibility issues.

CSIL quality management system is ISO 9001:2015 certified and focuses on the motivation and implication of members, the process approach and continual improvement. Led by the Board of Directors, CSIL members implement a quality control system ensuring that customers get consistent, good quality services as well as the highest scientific relevance, factual accuracy and evidence-based conclusions.
