Cities are, indeed, geographic concentrations of people, skills, economic activities and capital infrastructures, which are making them the key actors of the world economy's growth.

Companies willing to increase and extend their activities in a new market can not disregard the development and peculiarities of the cities within a country.

So, which are the most interesting cities of the future for companies serving the furniture and furnishing market?

CSIL tried to answer to this question with a new research titled 150 smart&fast cities: forecasting furniture demand to 2020.

The research throws light on 150 cities located in 72 countries and accounting for more than a quarter of the global furniture consumption.

These cities present interesting growth rates from a demographic, economic and consumption point of view which should be taken into account by the companies which are willing to increase and extend their economic activities.

Overall, rising income levels, global economic exposure of the city, population's growth, development of residential and office markets, booming of tourism’s sector and the need to be prepared to host international events are amongst the factors likely to drive the furniture demand of these cities by 2020.
