Alessandro Sterlacchini Universit? Politecnica delle Marche. Full Professor of Applied Economics at the "G. Fu?" Faculty of Economics of the Universit? Politecnica delle Marche (Ancona, Italy), where he teaches Microeconomics and Economics of Innovation both at the graduate and post-graduate level. He is member of CSIL Scientific Committee and President of the Italian Society for Industrial Economics and Policy. His research activity has been mainly in the field of Economics of Innovation, with special focus on the determinants and economic effects of R&D, patents, knowledge and innovation. In this regard, he carried out extensive empirical work across industries, firms and geographical areas and devoted particular attention to innovation policies. He coordinated or contributed to different policy studies on behalf of the European Commission
