SCHOLARSHIPS AND INTERNSHIPS 2008 - 2010 PROGRAMME

CSIL, in the framework of its training programme for young economic researchers and project analysts, offers for the period 2008-2010 a total number of 30 scholarships and internships.

Scholarships

Every year a number between 2 and 4 scholarships will be offered. To be considered eligible, candidates must:

  • Be under the age of 28 at the moment of the application
  • Hold an academic qualification corresponding to MA (MSc, Laurea 5-years or equivalent) in economics, political sciences, statistics, management engineering, social sciences and similar
  • A minimum University score of 100/110 or equivalent grade
  • A good knowledge of English is required (TOEFL, IELTS, First Certificate Cambridge)
  • Strong IT skills (ECDL full)
  • Strong attitude towards research and project analysis in the following fields: small and medium enterprises, country studies, global and EU competitive systems analysis, research on distribution systems, industrial districts and clusters analysis, local development policy evaluation, cost-benefit analysis of projects and programmes

The scholar selected will have the opportunity to participate to applied research projects in the following areas: Development and Evaluation, Market Research, Country Studies and Forecasting, Business Consulting, Industry Studies.

The scholarship will cover a period of maximum 2 years, it will be initially awarded for six months and afterwards renewed on the base of results assessment.

Scholars will be usually awarded a grant of 12000 Euro per year.

Internships

Every year CSIL offers a number of 6 to 8 internships. To be considered eligible candidates applicants must:

  • Be under the age of 25
  • Hold an academic qualification corresponding to BA or BSc (Laurea di primo livello)
  • A minimum University grade of 100/110 or equivalent grade
  • A good knowledge of English is required (TOEFL, IELTS, First Certificate Cambridge)
  • Strong IT skills (ECDL full)
  • Strong attitude towards research and project analysis in the following fields: small and medium enterprises, country studies, global and EU competitive systems analysis, research on distribution systems, industrial districts and clusters analysis, local development policy evaluation, cost-benefit analysis of projects and programmes

The intern selected will have the opportunity to participate to applied research projects in the following Units: Development and Evaluation, Market Research, Country Studies and Forecasting, Business Consulting, Industry Studies or CSIL Scientific Committee.

The internship will be for a period of maximum six months, initially for three months renewable on the basis of the results achieved. Interns are responsible for organising and cover their own travel and accommodation expenditures.

Usually a monthly lump-sum reimbursement of 500 Euro is in place.

Selection procedure

Application should be submitted in English only by email to: traineeship@csilmilano.com, please specify in the object if scholarship or internship. There is no deadline for applications.

Candidates will receive an answer within 30 days (that may consists of an invitation for a phone interview; an expression of interest that postpone the interview to a subsequent phase; a negative response).

Submissions are evaluated by the CSIL Scientific Committee.

The programme is opened to candidates without any regard to gender, nationality, religion. Non-EU citizens shall hold a residence permit and comply with all visa requirements. It is not foreseen any kind of accommodation and travel allowance, except for missions to other CSIL offices.
